SQL isn't going anywhere.

In 2023, that might sound a little strange. After all, this is supposed to be the "age of AI"? Why write SQL when we can just get ChatGPT to do it for us, right?

Wrong.

SQL is foundational to the entire world of Data. It's not as sexy as Python (and, let's be real, Python isn't sexy), but it's just as important (if not more).

If you're looking for places to learn SQL, you're spoiled for choice. There are hundreds of online courses and guides out there, many of exceptional quality. BUT - and here's the clincher - online courses will never fully teach you SQL. They'll get you part of the way, but to fully master the concepts you need to practice. A lot.

And this brings me to why theSQLgym exists.

In its current iteration, theSQLgym aims to be the best place on the internet to practice SQL questions. It's quite a narrow goal, but it's an important one. By working your way through the questions on this site, you'll improve your SQL skills and be better prepared to handle all sorts of data with SQL.

Hope you enjoy the platform! :-)

About the creator

Hi! I’m Matt, a Data Scientist living in Oxford, UK.

I built theSQLgym because I've spent the last 3 years getting into Data Science, and I want to try and help more people learn the skills needed to thrive in this industry.

My perspective is heavily shaped by my background - I come from a very non-AI background (I studied Geography for my undergraduate degree and my first jobs were in Sales and Marketing) - and I haven't got time for all that "data is the new oil" rubbish that floods the internet. My aim is simply to provide high-quality content that helps you get started in Data Science!
